Can I overtake Amazon with these stats...?

Found a great product to build a site around and amazon has these stats for that term:

AMAZON: PR3 Links to Page: 0

If I build a site and it hasnt the same high PR BUT has about 100 RELEVANT backlinks can I beat amazon for this term?

Edit, the third entry has 0 backlinks for amazon, but the first has 17

However, in terms of SEO - it's almost always the collective linkage of the domain that works. Amazon.com is an authority with gazillions of backlinks.

But that doesn't mean you cannot beat it in google SERPs! Probably, you cannot just get 18 backlinks and be on top. But there's noway you're staying down if you get some quality links.

JFDI? Lol, the amount of effort I put into creating sites and to not end up on the first page is reason enough!

Yeah you can beat it. Especially if you have the keyword as your domain. No sweat, it will just takes months probably.

Beating these kinds of sites is the first step in learning SEO in my opinion. They offer just enough competition that it's not easy but a beginner can still newb it up and still end up on top after awhile. Also, it's nice because no one is going to notice your site climbing up the rankings and start building links again to outpace your efforts until you quit.
