can i make PDFs for my client with his link in seo. is it a good idea after the update. or it will be a waste if time......

It provides diversity in a link profile so it is a good idea, just don't get carried away.

yes, that surely is neccessary and worth your time, but it is for diversification, so don't abuse it.

Does google count the links from pdf??

you have to submit those PDF in Document sharing site to get the benefit

Yes, i think i found that information somewhere in google official site about PDF links in doc sharing site. And they can also detect copyscape and duplicate content with that as well.

Google indexes pdf, so yes it works as any other Web resource all rules applies.
