Can I get sued for this?

Hello,me and my friend decided to report one page which used his video (It gave him the credits) but we wanted to get that page banned because it's copying our other page.

Anyways so it was my friends video and I made a copyright claim and I've putten my friends name as the owner of the video.

Now this guy says he will sue me and that he will go right into the facebook office to talk with them to get my page banned etc.

The video got deleted by facebook also.

So can he really sue me because I made a claim about my friends video and my friend didn't know I will do it because he thought he will do it. The guy says he will sue me for stealing identity???

I doubt it. What would he sue you for? And wtf a Fb office would tell him to go f*ck himself because they have bigger things to deal with.

He can probably sue you for false representation, losses, damage, and many other things. Now that doesn't mean he will win, you need to talk an attorney for that. If he was giving credit to your friend and your friend was happy, you stick your nose on some else business. I can tell you sometimes the easy route is to talk to people, give something and get something. This could have probably been fix by sending him an email asking him to stop copying the page and allow him to continue publishing the video, or request to take the video down, but he was not really infringing on the copyright as he was giving credit to the author. I know you don't want to hear it but you are in the wrong here.

Put yourself in his shoes, see it from his perspective.
 
This is not stealing identity I think. You've just said he's the owner of the video, which is true. Even if it wasn't, nobody has time for little stuff like this.
 
In America you can get sued for anything.

Will he follow through on it? Unlikely.

Will he walk into FB's office ranting like a lunatic? Again, unlikely.
 
Okay this is what he messaged me right now :

Hi ****, Thank you for stepping forward with this. This is not a small thing, and the side effects to our channel are huge. This is not the first time it happened with *****. We already contacted Facebook Europe that is located near our offices in Israel due to the claim. We have few friends that are working there, and according to them it's called identity theft and its criminal offense worldwide. We will do our best to clean our page history but it's not going to be an easy task. I do not know how to react to this situation, we did not do anything wrong to you or your brother and we do not understand the hatred towards us. I believe we can solve it without continuing with a Facebook investigation that may cause all profiles and pages deletion. We are not kids, some of us have a huge background in this industry. This report effect those people that are working for us, and it's wrong on every scale. Please come back with a solution proposal plan for this situation, and we will be in touch. ****
 
Assuming that he sues you (I'm 99% sure he won't), he'd first have to prove that it wasn't your friend that reported the video and that it actually somehow "damaged" his business and made him lose money.

But come on let's be honest the guy threatened to "go right into the facebook office to talk with them" so you are safe to assume he doesn't have the money to sue you (especially if you guys live in different countries)
 
You know what is missing on all this? Business ethics.

He's just trying to intimidate you into letting him use the video. If you are in different countries there is no way in hell he is going to sue you. Do you know how much international lawyers cost?

And do you really think he's located near FB Europe in Isreal?

Full of bluff

If it was me ill go mad ill blast that full till he fell to the floor .

I would blast all the nasty websites at him maybe a 2 million blast just to make him relise he a lieing scum bag.

Tell him any contact via email and via his solicitor only

You took him down over showing your frineds video he done wrong he a full.

He used your video who gives a f what he says or thinks he a waffle .....
 
Tell this guy to go and f*** himself and forget about it. This kind of things always end like the same, you never hear again of this guy with a lot of 'friends' and bullshit stories.
 
If this video really does belong to your friend, then just write a contract up with your buddy where he hires you as an assistant to monitor copyright infringements against his video. Therefore you have the justification to have reported them. As long as the legal author of the video is on your side nothing will happen to you. But again, IANAL and if in doubt you should consult with one.

Tell your friend that people lie online all the time. Professionally even. Also, if he doesn't want them using his video - even with credit - he needs to say so. He has that right.

You guys need to use common sense.
 
Because I think he 'bought' him with saying that he will get in some kind of trouble so he doesn't answer me anymore and that guy told me he messaged him(my buddy)

Okay got in contact with my buddy. He said they never messaged him. I guess that's good and he's with me.
