I found this Niche after Two weeks of keyword research.

The problem is there is only 60,000 search per month for this word in Google.

Can i take up this niche?Or should i look for a Keyword with more searches?

How Much searches should be there for a Keyword to build a Profitable Information product around it?

BHW experts pls advice....

I think 60,000 searches is quite a lot and yes you can make money from it potentially, I say that because it's all down to how you use the keywords and how well you can build a site around it, give it a go there is no harm in trying.

Sorry I should have mentioned like the others below, yes it depends on competition as well, are there many competing? how many are competing? how well are there sites ranked for the keywords i.e how many backlinks do they have? etc etc

Best of luck

it depends on the competition
if it has millions of competition it will be difficult for you rank well

and 60k a month is good, its 2k a day
some people are happy with just 50 searches a day

so i guess you found a good keyword

If you decide you don't want to try, I'll be willing to take it off your hands ;-).

60k / month is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. The competition is a major factor here. If they are xxx, xxx, xxx results, then maybe it isn't worth it, but if there isn't too much / very strong competition, you could do really well. If you can rank well and get only 10% of the traffic, that's 6000 targetted visitors a month... which can be very useful.

is this combined from multiple keywords, or just one keyword?

did you use the phrase or exact option in the keyword tool? (very important)

what kind of niche is it? is there a lot of stuff you could sell? affiliate or cpa..

are there a lot of ads in ppc? when there re a lot of ads, there's usualy money to be made.

are there a lot of web2.0 properties showing up on the first two pages?

just a few things you could also look at to see if it is worth your time.

60k per month for a keyword is v. good

It can definitely be monetized in whichever niche it is in

Now the big question is:

How many competing sites? 100k, 10m, 100m?

It is worthless without that information

The competetors who sell some products around the niche is only about 5......Others have some basic information and are using adwords to monitize it.

The reason i am asking if 60,000 is enough is....i already rank third for a keyword with 90,000 searches a month and i am getting only 100 visitors a day....Don't know where the others go....

With that calculation in mind i am sceptic that 60,000 is good.

Thanks Godmonkey for taking the Time to answer and Edit your answer for me....I appreciate it.

'BHCAT'....
I have decided to use this keyword for myself....But i came across many 60,000 search keywords but discarded it for one reason or another....

If you want it you can PM me....If you want to share it here i can share it here also....

Already i have shared a keyword 'Buy ouija board' which has 15000 searches per month....This is a keyword with 'buy' IN IT SO IT WILL CONVERT ATLEAST 10%.
I discarded it because i am afraid of the spritual consequences.

Where are you getting this information

"rank third for a keyword with 90,000 searches a month."

If you're using google adword external tool, do note that the numbers do not refer to actual traffic.

Yes,i use keyword external tool only.

Really....then what does that really mean...Pls throw some light on it...

I think that you're probably looking in broad match and not in phrase or exact match.

No matter how many competing pages there are you should only be concerned with the 1st ten.

If you want a decent slice from those searches you have to be on page one.
So the pages there is your real competition.

If it's all authority sites with high PR, many backlinks and Google's trust...you won't make it to page one.
(at least not with some decent BH techniques....:D )

If it's a buying kw and the sites on page one only offer info and no product chances are that people will click to page two and maybe even three.
If you make it there you could still profit from it.

.

This is so true. Since you want to be on page 1, you only need to look at the top 10 sites because they are who you'll be competiting with.

Check how many backlinks they have using yahoo site explorer, look at whether they are internal or external pages, what is their onpage seo like? Are they using the keyphrase in the title?

That should tell you whether to go after a keyword or not.

Does the keyword(s) have commercial viability? Quick way to find out is: are people paying for paid search? Also, are there affiliate programs that you can monetize your site with?

well almost every niche can make you money...what matters is how much and how easily..i guess..if its easy to dominate that niche...than 60 k searches will surely make you some good bucks :)

There are 2 edu links and 1 Gov link and one wiki link and a three authority sites belonging to the specific ninche....

Is it very hard to compete against them and climb to the top three?
The good thing is they don't have much backlinks....The max backlink they have is 160.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Where did you get the numbers from?

I plugged "Buy ouija board" in Google Adwords Tool and only manage to see these stats:

Exact: 880
Phrase: 1900
Broad: 4400

These numbers do not even come close to what you have stated above.

When doing a competitor analysis, I would only look at Exact and Phrase matched datas.
