I heard that the Verizon iPhone 5 are unlocked and a 16 GB one with 2 years subscription costs 199$.
In my country, the iPhone 5 is not on sale yet and probably it will cost about 1000$ or more where i leave.

I was thinking, could i order a Verizon iPhone 5 using a US forwarding address, pay the 199$ and have it shipped to where i live.
Is it a good idea if it can be done? Do i risk getting sued by Verizon ?

I have the same question in mind. I think AT&T phones are 199 as well..and you can get it unlocked for $25 or so too..

It CANNOT Be done.

First,you need SSN .

Secondly,they perform Credit Check.

Also,remember,its CONTRACT.And by CONTRACT,I mean,you need to follow the contract or else you need to pay ETF i.e. Early Termination Fee.

Guess you did not read the opening post well.
My question is related to the fact that i am not in the US. i will order it online, will have it sent to a US forwarding address.
While playing around on verizon wireless website, i tried signing up for the 2 years contract - it did not ask for a SSN.

They will eventually ask for SSN eventually. Also early termination fee is somewhere around $350 or so.
That's $350 + $199 for a 16gb iPhone.

Also one thing; ain't US iPhones all CDMA? Meaning they're not any good in majority of countries using GSM?

All US iPhones have GSM capabilities.
As for the ETF: You're right. I suppose you don't have to pay. It just means that your credit rating is shot and you can't open another account with that carrier later on.

Tmobile and AT&T are GSM in the US. The other guys (Sprint, Verizon, etc) are CDMA. The iPhone 5 for Verizon specifically has BOTH the technologies, so it's basically a confirmed FACTORY UNLOCKED gsm device (not used on Verizon of course but would work everywhere a lowend nokia does without extra ub3r h4x0ring) plus a CDMA device (that's what Verizon uses).

once u can get them to send the phone out to you then yes it would work
but remember stealing an apple product directly from the company is pretty ballsy cuz they can easily shut it down.
i unlock iphones and if someone tries to rip me off for a free unlock i can lock their phone down

So what you are saying is that you can get an iPhone 5 for 550 and sell it back on eGay for about $100 more?

if the company decides to put a hard lock on the phone then the phone won't be any use to you. Once you can get them to send you an actual phone, it can be unlocked sprint and all.
usually with sprint unlocks you need to have a clear esn.
It can be sold on ebay but not in the US
