If you can see web 2.0 properties and affiliate sites on the first page, you can rank as long as you have a good enough linkslist to compete.
The only time I'll be weary of certain keywords is if I see a ton of authority plugging up the first page. Like webmd, wikipedia, amazon, etc. Seeing these means that there's a good chance when you reach the first page, these mega-authority sites will rat you out to google in an instant.
Or there there are tons of manual reviews in place to keep you from getting into the top 10.

I orderd a 1700 word keyword rich artikel with some nice pictures that are full of keywords also. This is will be my homepage artikel. The website is now live.
Next step: order about 10 , 500 words plus product discription artikels.
The goal is to make a simpel comparison site that is ranking in top 2 of my main keyword.
