Can Google penalize just your homepage?

I was ranked pretty high with a very new domain name (2 months old) up until yesterday.

Today my homepage is not ranked anywhere, only my posts and pages are ranked.

If i type in "link:myurl_com" all of the pages and posts on my website show up except for the home page "www_myurl_com".

The number of backlinks to my home page would probably amount to the sum of all backlinks to the other pages since I would usually get two backlinks per article. One would point at the website and another one at my posts. I have been using jetsubmitter and uaw and probably submitted over a 1000 articles total, but i'm not sure how many got linked.

First of all, i think you're using the "site:" operator, not "link:"

what do you get when you query info:homepage or is your domain listed for the query "your_domain_com" (with quotes)

Regarding your question, yes, only your homepage, or a single inner page or pages under a directory / folder can be penalized / filtered out.

Also, you'll not get exact link count with the "link:" operator. It's just a random set of links pointed to your site.

You're right, it was "site", not "link"

info gives me the following
"Sorry, no information is available for the URL"


and no, the domain name is NOT LISTED ANYWHERE any longer, however, domainname_com/posts and /pages are all still there...

also, it turns out that Fetch as Googlebot is reporting the following status "DNS not found" for all of the pages including the homepage. all of my 3 nameservers are pointed correctly i think... not sure any more...

I've experienced this with a few sites that were penalized, most likely due to age/excessive links building early on.

The inner pages rank while the main domain is nowhere to be found..

It will possibly comeback in some time. Start worrying after a few days .
Have you used some black-hat tools to link your site?
Try adding some high-value links to your homepage.
