Can Google automatically detect backlink exchanges?

Yes, google detects all backlinks exchanges especially if you buy PBN links. It's an easy guess if some external site is having one blog post, with one link to your site, and 1000s of such posts to 1000s sites. It's that simple to detect for google.

NO... How is it supposed to know if it was a link exchange or those links are genuine???
OK... it will see those links... so what?

Can Google detect all types of backlinks exchanges? Like if multiple
sites are involved in the exchange, can Google still detect it?

yes they can detect exchange and if they do, there never happy about it .

If a links to b, b to c and c back to a, cannot they see the pattern and judge?

Google Algorithm detects the link swap by simply crawling the page links. Once it collects the data, it will find which is your main site and how you build links. Google is getting smarter these days. :weep:

Google looks for patterns. If it's obvious, eventually it's going to get the smackdown. The key is to not make it obvious. If it looks obvious, probably want to stay away from it.

Remember, there are billions of websites on the Internet. They don't have a bunch of elves in the North Pole manually checking websites.

If you set up your backlink exchanges in a very obvious way (and I'm talking about "A for B" exchanges where one site links to another site which then links directly back to the first site), then, yes, Google can quickly detect that you are just doing simple backlink exchanges and will penalize you accordingly.

But thankfully, such simplistic linking patterns are a relic of the past unless you're a complete and total newbie.

This does still happen and it is a common rookie mistake.

But most people know well enough not to do this.

Instead, they use the A-B-C linking system.

Site A would link to Site B, and Site B would link to Site C.

Site C would then link to Site A.

There's a lot more hurdles to jump through.

But if you partner with the right sites or if you build the right private blog network, this can be worth your while.
