Can duplicating a site makes it successful ?

A little query from members,

Suppose, I found a successful site which covers all the topic of the specific niche. And the site is successful.

So if I copy their SILO, Url articles topic and every other thing. I will not copy exact text i will write high quality contents and everything else but the topic will be same as competitor.

So, is it a good idea to get success by following successful site without failing on new market and doing new experiment?

What you guys think about this ? Do you also do this. If Yes, are you successful with it or not..

Hmmmm... Interesting. If you want to rank for the same keywords like them, I don't think just rewriting the topic is gonna be enough. Also you should try and see other competitors as well. And run the keywords you've seen in a keyword research tool, and determine from there if it's gonna be good or not..

If you copy everything, he will complain it to your hosting provider and you will have to take it down. So better just take idea and dont copy it completely.

Better take example of such site, build it up similarly, not just copy exact things off the website.

If you are copying your competitor's site structure, and similar topic/content for your site, there wouldn't be penalty if you are able to write everything yourself, based on the idea/structure/similar topic/content, as it is new content being put on your site.
However, the hard thing to copy is the competitor's website existing authority and metrics that it has already established over time - that you will not be able to copy. You can also build a similar authority based on the link structure, but I do not think it will be 100% similar or copy-able. You can build better authority to your site, but this will take time and a lot of effort or money in that aspect. Garnering good user engagement will also take a fair portion of your time as well.
I think there isn't any issue copying ideas/site structure as you'll be putting new information on the web in the process, and you mentioned of writing high quality content for your site.
