Can anyone recommend a good keyword-research service?

I'm looking for a high quality keyword-research service. And I mean actual quality, not some KGR stuff with flashy graphics. I'm searching for a service from someone that knows what they're doing and has a reputation of delivering top notch keywords because I'm trying to rank in a broader high competitive niche.

If anyone could make a recommendation I would greatly appreciate it.

You can do this even with a free tool like Google Keyword Planner.

Find a keyword - run it through GKP

Go on the google search: Type your keyword

Check the first 10-25 domains appearing for that keyword

If the first 30 domains are insanely strong that means you'll encounter a lot of difficulties ranking for that keyword. (Any keyword is difficult though, metrics are metrics)

Now, you can take advantage of it by time - wait for your site/domain gets its own authority (Build backlinks in the meantime)

Thanks for your detailed answer. I am very familiar with keyword research have tried to find any low competition keywords, but I wasn't able to find any. The lowest difficulty I was able to find is over 70% on semrush, which is quite hard for a new site.
I am trying to establish my site in this niche by ranking for very low competition keywords. Search Volume doesn't matter to me at the moment, I am trying to show google that my site provides quality content and is worth ranking.

I have tried finding low competition keywords multiple way:
moz
answer the public
kw finder
google suggestions

But I think I'm just not experienced enough to find any low competition keywords.

When are people going to learn that it's not about its metrics but about the competition...

If there are sites having an established authority for that keyword already, you are hardly going to find a place. You can buy 200000000000000 PBNS and 200000000000000000 Backlinks.

I've studied the ranking process in detail for many years now. I only post here-n-there on BHW some information but nothing serious -

If you want to find LOW COMPETITION keywords, check the sites that are ranking for it.

You'll make yourself an idea. Of course, you can overcome them but it requires TIME (That's the main factor of ranking + High quality content written + many other factors people are aware of but ignore)

Anyway, take my advice and don't pay for any tool. Do it yourself -

EDIT: Target a competitor with a lower authority on Google, surpass that competitor and you'll get further step by step.

Yes that's exactly what I'm trying to do. I want to establish my site and show google that it has quality content. Basically ranking for the low competition long tail keywords and then gradually going for bigger ones. I don't think I'm just going to be able to buy my way through this with pbns or keyword research. In fact I won't use pbns because they are too risky for me. But keywords research is a nice way to start I thought. Just increasing chances wherever I can.

I search for keywords through Ahrefs. I have all countries and a nice preview is provided by other competitors' websites. I can see what they grow up nicely for.

Analyze the kws your competitors are ranking for. You could get a rough idea on what type of kws should you start targeting.

You can choose anything from free to paid services.

Free stuff
Ubersuggest, cocolyze

Paid stuff
Semrush, KWfinder, Ahrefs

Depends on your strategy
Not a single kw research is the best

If you need fresh ideas and brainstorm, keyword planner + answer the public + some keyword-shitter-like service will help you combined with some credits on keyword everywhere or SEO surfer
If you are willing to do some competitor analysis to get some ideas from something already working, ahrefs, semrush
If you want to fast scroll around a niche, KwFinder or Keywordtool are your friends
