You should test this on new channel. Only by testing you can know the real result. Prepare at least 3-6 month effort to see the result.

Instead of deleting and reuploading, couldn't he have just cut the 10 secs on YT and kept the 32m views?

I heard of micro cutting + flipping the video + altering the original audio.
Perhaps even blurring out a few key characters + features can help.

But its a hard labor job in my eyes. Better of focusing on commentary with a few highlight clips in between. Plus that might be better quality and gain much more subs
