SOPA is all over the web right now. If you dont know whats its all about, its basically a law that is trying to be passed in the USA that will allow websites to be deleted for the most minor case of infringement without contacting the owner.

Surely you recall how they managed to pass the Patriot act...

I wanna punch this guys face.

You want to punch a guy, who has no doubt spent a lot of his own time (for no monetary profit) to help you, the general internet user?

His video could be the make or break of this stupid law, I wouldn't care if he had 100 pimples on his face - right now, I'm very happy that he has put in all of this effort. This thing is getting shared on FB right now :)

Sorry I just can't listen to this guy talking.

I'm completely against SOPA 100%. Which is why I just transferred all my domains from GoDaddy to Namecheap.

I guess you just really don't like his face! :p It is a good video though, maybe listen to the audio only!

Would you rather sit and watch some generic video made in windows movie maker, consisting of white text on a blue background and a text to talk robotic voice?

Humour and satire sells the message and will encourage people to get behind the work he has done. This is marketing 101 :P

In a nutshell. In the case of MGM vs Grokster, the supreme court ruled The person responsible for distributing the means to infringe said copyright material, with the intent to further perpetrate the copyright infringement is liable for the resulting acts of copyright by the people downloading the material.

In layman terms. The guys who give out the software are the people legally accountable for any copyright infringement.

So when a big company like Time Warner sue's some single mom for $200,000 and bankrupts her. The people that should actually be getting sued are the distributors of the software.

This guy has proof that the same company that is accountable for distributing the software is also suing the people that use it. He further details how these companies coached users in methods on how to easily download the copyrighted material.

The whole premise for this was to introduce a "copyright violation culture" so they can easily implement crazy, radical laws that allow huge companies to basically control the internet.

what would be really cool is to make this video the number one on google, bing, and yahoo for the keyword "sopa". Makes me think about what would happen if everyone on bhw put a little work into this to make it #1.

This is the longest I've ever been on a single thread here on BHW.

Thanks for the post G-S-T.

the youtube view increasing methods could be used for this kind of stuff..even the combined might of all 4 chans and sites alike uniting for this cause with botnets etc.. to ensure that this video becomes the most viewed on youtube ever... and stays on the charts for months ^^ that would be truly epic.

I wonder why they would want to even have this law passed? I can see Google trying to take out Yahoo! Facebook, and other major competition for finding some flaw. It's getting scary how easy it is to get things out of the way if it's inconvenient for another. We have it here on the forum. If someone gives a neutral review in regards to their experience, they risk getting banned and the post deleted. Imagine that 1000% magnified. Big competitors taking out the small fishes because they want all the money to themselves.

He may be annoying but to want to punch him is immature and plain idiotic when his very being may save us from something detrimental to our money making ways.

The times are coming..

Agreed on punching the guy in the face. He is too hyper and has an annoying tonality. Its like listening to a 14 year old.

Anyways, I mailed my congressman about SOPA. Last I checked, my state is against it.

i see a pattern. congress continues plummet their popularity with their "genius" bills and ideas.
