Can any script be edited????

I am new to php and sql so I was wondering if any script can be edited. In this case it is an auto dealer script. I am not very fond of the banners and fonts so I was wondering if I can change that in the script and how I can actually do it if possible. Or can I use a certain program, any help would be appreciated. srry had to put .kom instead bec wouldn't let me post site.
