You'd most likely have to proof read and edit your way around the AI. It's doable though, just depends on the quality you're looking for.

Yes, it can work. You have to ask the AI to outline first. Then start writing with each topics. Then you have to manually edit.Check it is pilgarism free or not.

The script for Rumble Fish movie - directed by Francis Ford Coppola (he didn't have access to AI at the moment), made a research about the profile of the characters of previous Film Noir movies (around 500) and he came up with this one.
Nevertheless, I don't think this will work if you plan to write a novel.
