I have an idea for a blog that would be updated weekly and perhaps a few days between each week. But I'm afraid it won't work because every article I read about blogging says to update daily. It's not that I couldn't handle that but some of my ideas work on a weekly basis. Example? Well one idea I had was to suggest games/movies for family game nights and family movie nights. It would be kinda weird if I suggest a game or movie everyday if the idea is to make time for the family at least once a week. So, could a weekly blog work or do I need to tweak my idea to make it a daily thing?

There is no problem to blog in a weekly basis. But first I think you should put more content there before publishing it live. Get at least 50 post ready before going weekly. At least there is something that visitors can read.

The main thing about blogging is promotion. Get your blog to be noticed (if it is new)

Of course, why not? You can do blogging weekly. Add more contents when you get the site live. Share the post links in social media at weekends, so that you'll get more traffic to your site at weekends. The weekend social traffic is more when comparing with weekdays.

Yes it can work if it's unique and have very valuable content on it. My advice is to post at least 30-50 posts before you start updating your blog on weekly basis.

Updating daily is not a hard and fast rule. In fact if you update a blog daily with 100% crap, you'd be better off updating once a week with something worthwhile.

Engagement metrics play a big part in SEO these days. Since most people don't give a @#$% about privacy and use spyware-ridden web browsers and add analytics and other trackers to pages, search engines have access to all the engagement metrics and will judge your site accordingly.

Updating weekly is definitly possible, within certain kinds of niches it is even recommendable to update weekly rather than daily. If there are no news to be shared,no developments to be talked about on a daily basis than it makes more sense to do it weekly. Visitors would value to get !good! content on a weekly basis rather than getting daily updates that are shit.

You have to consider one thing though, if you only update weekly it will take longer for visitors to take to your blog and to follow it. This holds espacially true if you do not write a bigger amount of content to start the blog with as people won't know whether your first and second post are the general or just some rare exception of good posts from you.
