I was looking to change my hosting company to existing hostgator cpanel account because I don;t remember the cpanel passwords for one was of my sites. When I was beginner I tried random hosting companies, so earlier the site was hosted in some german hosting company I think, and I am not able to recover the passwords due to language issue and I dont remember which email address I used back then. The site has been neglected for few years and I want to start it again. The site is built on wordpress. I do have the admin passwords of wordpress for the site.

I think it is possible to keep site on 2 hostings but how can this be done?

what do you mean host it on 2 hostings ?? if you have your websites files (backup) then just upload those files on the new hosting account and point your domain to that new hosting space and forget about the old one :)

take a cpanel backup, change the name servers to point to the new host and restore on to new host.
    /finish.

If you don't have the cpanel password, you won't be able to download the SQL database of your site (as far as I know), but you can still download the backup via ftp.
Then simply change the nameservers of your domain in your registrars settings and get a new host. Also you could simply email the hosting provider and request a password reset by providing information that verifies your ownership of the hosting account.

Just contact host #1 and explain to them what you've described here.
You NEED to know pertinent information for all of your sites.

If everything is legit, there should be no problems. May take a bit longer, but at least you'll be able to port over the site and domain(plus regain a recent back-up)

why don't you just use google translate to translate the email the german company sent you? Then you can reset your password legitimately and not have a issue.
but to answer your question you cannot have your website domain hosted in two places. DNS would either pick one randomly everytime or you would get a site not found message because the DNS server assumes that it has bad info and will toss an error. If you set up a site with the same domain name and change the nameservers at your registrar that is the authority for the DNS network so if you just set up the domain somewhere else that is how you move a site.
Now comes the question about how you have WP admin access and not cpanel access. sounds fishy but benefit of the doubt just copy and save all the posts and you basically have the sql of WP so if you have all your posts saved as text files locally and you take a list of the plugins you have installed you can recreate just about everything at a new domain and then update your nameservers at the registrar and your good.

if you can manage your DNS and buy a vps, i think you can Google "Nginx" Load Balancer

I dont think it is possible to use multiple hosts for a site/domain. Each host account has its own DNS that must be set up in the domain registrar's website

You said, you have admin password of wordpress.

Then go and install "Duplicator" Plugin or "BackupBuddy" (Paid).

Duplicate your site and move the Zip File and Installer.php to the new hosting provider.

Run Installer script and you are DONE...

    copy the files via ftp
since you don't have the sql access
so login to your wordpress backend
and export all the posts and import them on your new host
that should work pretty well without any issues

I was going to post a new thread for this but I thought why not ask my question here. I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask.

I have a question regarding hosting a website and then hosting videos with a different provider.

My website is currently hosted on an offshore host.

I am running out of Disk Space with my host.

If i purchase a separate hosting account either with my current host or another solely for hosting my videos for my website will that work?

From within wordpress if I put my video URL as the "new host" will they stream as flawlessly as they have been while my video(s) were hosted in the same location as my website? Can't really find a clear answer on this.

    Thanks for the feedback
