Can a WEB 2.0 get Penalized?

This may sound like a retarded question, but can a WEB 2.0 property like a squidoo page get penalized by Google? I want to test some tools on the WEB 2.0's to see how good they are.

Question is, if the tool works, the 2.0 will increase in PageRank. That's easy. But what happens if the tool is bad (penalized by Google), what happens then?

Possibly but it is highly unlikely.
I'm not sure what tool you're referring too but yeah web 2.0 pages can increase in PR. If the web 2.0 gets penalised nothing will happen to your money site - that is the beauty.
 
You can chuck much more spam and low quality links at a trusted web 20 than you can at your main site. Great to use for buffer sites to protect your main site as Google gives them more respect than Joe Bloggs self hosted website.
 
Yes you can have a penalized web 2.0, just like you can see individual pages on your own websites get penalized for over optimization.

With the advent of web 2.0's Google had to shift the way that it penalized websites, especially large ones with a lot of authority. Penalizing pages and subdomains was the easiest way to do that without hurting large blgo networks and domains with huge authority.
 
The answer is yes, but I wouldn't worry too much about it, because it won't effect your money site.
 
Not that I know of! Most probably the answer is NO!
 
No i dont thinks so, Web2.0 are powerful backlinks, just dont use duplicate content and you will not get penalized.
 
I don't think so.. I would love to know if there's any way these can put a negative effect on a money site?
 
what I can tell you is that web.2.0 blogs can get de-ranked ,however not completely penalized.

Unlikely that individual properties will be affected by an algorithmic penalty, but they can be reported (by a competitor), and potentially be removed from the search results.

More likely a whole Web 2.0 platform will be targeted as happened to Squidoo and Hubpages previously.

It's funny you mentioned subdomains. I recently came to the conclusion that something is clearly going on with a lot of my subdomains. They never had much real authority, and now it seems as though they have nothing. i don't know what I'll do about them yet.
 
Most of the web2.0 sites have huge authority that allows them to take hammering from absolutely everything we can throw at them!
 
That's what I thought. The 2.0 properties may not get penalized, but Google may decide not to count a lot of the backlinks. Either way, the money site is protected. Here's my strategy:

1. Manually develop some quality WEB 2.0's

2. Use GSA rank tracker to build a ton of comments to the WEB 2.0 properties.

What do you guys think? Also, how much link juice do I get from a virgin WEB 2.0 property?
 
So you mean to say a guest post backlink from a site with a similar PageRank of a WEB 2.0 will count for less? Kinda makes sense.
