New to all this but reasonably I.T. savvy.
We have a wordpress website; pretty pictures, blog, testimonials, web contact etc but nothing over complicated in my opinion.
Needs a bit of updating but not impressed with the company we use to manage it. I want to add some links in to technical info on the products new sell and have been requesting for ages that the site gets updated, but nothing actioned.

Am seriously wondering if I get some basic training in website management/digital marketing whether it’s something I can take on myself? Or am I best off leaving it to the professionals?

Wordpress is well supported you can google most any question you have and find an answer, just log in and do it.

You mentioned links. Within the interface, just like this forum there is a chain icon for creating the html example: "<a href="websiteblahblah.com/xxx-xxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxx/">blahblahblah<a>" which all you do is highlight the article or page url, click on link symbol (which is the "a href" tag) and paste the url into the popup text box and you have a link. 10 seconds. You can also use the "Target" (new window) and "NoFollow" commands also. So, if you learn basic html (which you really don't need except to fix issues on pages occasionally) it should be no big deal.

If you`re willing to put in some hours training on WordPress, absolutely, it ain`t rocket science.
This, there isn't anything magical about managing your own websites really
Most "Managed" hosts will already magically handle 99% of your stuff, you just need to pay attention to things that are broken and tell them to fix it.
Otherwise its really just knowing how to set your files on the server and updating it really.
& if you are using wordpress, that really simplifies by 10000x
Most things can be achieved by just an wordpress add-on
Obviously custom bulit stuff is way better but that also requires knowledge or money.

It is not hard to get into even without any past experience, WordPress is well-known and you could find answers to everything online easily.

i use to make whole websites with 30 posts just off my iPhone. It’s so easy to figure out

wordpress website
If its wordpress its too easy to learn no coding involved, you just need to spend 2 or 3 hours to understand the interface and options available

Look for wordpress basics, wordpress beginner tutorials videos on youtube to learn fast :)

If you mean to know about linux installing (apache, nginx) you can do that learning.
There are many videos available in youtube, isn't hard.

Do you know english? Then you can do everything. Most of commands are in English.
Is not hard! If you pratice you can be a good manage your servers and Wordpress fine and greatly without any costs and guess what?

You improve your skills! Is not hard, believe me. Just need training.

Everyone needs learning to be in where they are now right? ;)
