i just had an idea to create a book review website. i am an amazon affiliate and thought about this strategy...

find keyword search terms, for example "best fitness books" *not my niche*

and then find 3-5 books on amazon that get a lot of sales. download free PDFs of them. then write a synopsis or take some good tips from the books and give them to readers for free. then add a link to the amazon affiliate page.

is this a profitable strategy? can book review blogs make good money?

Frankly a dog doo review site is profitable with enough traffic. Get the traffic, they money will follow. Ad money can be good with ENOUGH traffic.

I personally think that this is a great idea OP. Also i'd suggest selecting New York Times best sellers to promote mainly since they are more likely to convert!

What do you mean by downloading the PDF and/or giving them away? Amazon will ban any affiliate doing that in a minute, unless I'm missing something?

i meant i would download a free pdf of the book so i dont have to buy it. otherwise i would have to spend lots of money to get all the books.

And why do you think its needed? Sometime its not possible to get Pdfs of many interesting books, then what you think you would do for them?

The idea is nice if carried away with patience and time , just a bit of Good SEO is necessary.

It's a good strategy! There's also those 1 cent physical books all over amazon that you can buy too, though without prime I think shipping may apply.

If you can create enough content on your site and you market it nicely, you can get more visitors. Its a constant process wherein you will need to spend time everyday in terms of building and growing your site.

The more the number of visitors on your site, the higher is your probability of increased earnings !!

Book review do attract traffic but the commission for sale in amazon is not attractive for book in average you get 50 cent per book sale. I had a book review of one author what i found is i got more commission from people who brought other products while buying books then the commission from book sale itself. Well I ranked in google for a book written by a former US president runner up.

It might work because a lot of buyers are searching the name of the Kindle book in google prior to buying it. They look for reading reviews in other places than Amazon, too. So, even if the commision might be low after each sale, you might see a quite high volume of targeted traffic. You could also try other monetization methods on this kind of site.

I used to do reviews of books on a niche authority site. Whenever a new book was published I made a deal with either the author or publishing company to provide me with 10 copies that I would be able to sell on my site or on ebay. Making money from Amazon with books is not a big profit maker unless you can sell hundreds of books per item.

amazon commissions suck tbh.. just focus on 1 good clickbank book and with the same amount of traffic you'll make like 10x more
