Can a blog be the first on Google search?

Hello to everyone,

I was wondering if a blog from Blogger or Wordpress can be on top of the results in a Google search (of course after some SEO is done). If not, could you advise me on a different free hosting service that is better and which you can use it to become the number one on the results list?

yes it can. be sure to name the blog (and subdomain) the keyword you are trying to promote

although owning the top level domain is always preferable.
 
Thanks a lot for your answers, but I'd like to know which one is better: Blogger or Wordpress? And I've heard that if you delete some things from your Blogger (navbar or atribution or...), the blog won't appear any more in searches. Is that true?

I think what's more important isn't the question of blogger or wordpress but more getting content up then driving traffic, etc. Basically, if you're going the free route anyway, I think you have other issues to deal with (i.e. - the fact that if/when it gets popular, it's still not your own). Said differently, I'd be more concerned with the fact that the blog can be shut down or taken away or whatever at a point. But again, if you're going forward, the question of which free host is secondary to the actual keyword research, SEO, etc. work you'll need to be doing.
 
for anything that is even competitive, i wouldnt even bother. for the amount of work that will be involved to rank for those words, i wouldnt even think about using a free blogging platform. why risk getting that account getting banned or deleted and losing all your hardwork? To save 8bucks in the shorterm? Pretty foolish, IMO.
 
Thank you so much for enlightening me :D Now I would like to know what I should do to get my blog on the top (I think I will keep the blogger for now because I'm at the beginning). Maybe you could give me some links to some tutorials with what I have to do because I've looked over the SEO sections and I'm pretty disoriented because there are very many topics and I really don't know what to choose. If you could help me I'll be forever thankful to you ;)

Domain doesn't matter too. How often do you see when you research a keyword and you try to find a domain name for it but it's taken, and then you type the keyword into google and none of the top 10 results are the exact keyword domain name? Almost all the time.

The rule that applies to me is that no matter what domain, you should at least put the keywords in your url as sub directory.
 
You can absolutely rank a Blogger or a WordPress blog hosted for free over at WordPress however if you are using any BlackHat techniques and it comes to their attention they might shut you down. I would advice you to host the blog yourself - I mean get some hosting of your own not rely on free hosting services specially not Blogger since it's a part of Big G!

don't even try anything blackhat on blogger.i did a scrapebox blast on my blogger blog and now am starting over again.They deleted my blog just hours after the blast.
