Calculating the competition for a Keyword - Tutorial

how about looking at index count of top 10 too ?after farmer update i can show u many keywords, those are being impossible to break in top 10 only because most of the top 10 sites had big index count.needless to say there are exception but now a days, that thing must be taken care of.

Thank you for sharing a great thread, Naps.. Since the crowd are busy with backlinking stuffs, we are lack of information about keyword research development.
If may i raise a question, could you share your opinion about this EMD quality related to competitors having strong PR and BL? say, how to beat a site having 5k alexa rank and1k backlink?

If you have an emd and good back links ou can out rank them....

I've seen exact match domain urls beat out high authority sites too but not Adwords on top of page (cause of g format).

NaspsteR,

What about EMD with dashes? Like super-cool-keyworddotc0m. Is it difficult to rank? How much worse is it than supercoolkeyworddotc0m?

How would you do keyword competition in 2015? Would you still use this process you suggested in 2011? Is it still effective?

Thanks

Is this keyword research is for Content / Post Title or Domain Purchase Guide ? Related to EMD's

Hey Folks,
dont want to create a new thread, so I hope it is fine for getting that thread back from the grave.
So I am researching different keywords to set up micro niche sites.

If I have a keyword (For example: cheap kindle) so shall i search for:
allintitle:"cheap kindle" or allintitle:cheap kindle
same for
inurl:"cheap kindle" or inurl:cheap kindle

As using " " gives me a huge difference in the number of results.
