C# with socks proxies?

I've wrote a lot of bots using httpwebrequest but it does not support SOCKS proxies and now I'm thinking if I should move to Java because of its HTTPClient. it supports SOCKS proxies as well. From a post I saw on BHW if I use sockets I can use SOCKS proxies? How hard is it to convert my programs from using httpwebrequest to sockets?

Check out the Chilkat HTTP component, it's very simple to use, here's an example: http://www.example-code.com/csharp/http_socks_proxy.asp

There's also the socket component for raw HTTP. If you need a key just PM me.

Chilkat heavy in usage and quite buggy i suggest get rid of chilkat in a multithread application !

c# can do this. 2 seconds on Google and I searched "c# socks proxy" found an article on codeproject called "C# class for connecting via a SOCKS5 Proxy Server". I can't post the link yet, or I would have.

Basically, anything that can be done in c# or java or c or c++ can be done in c# or java or c or c++ (unless you are getting down to system level coding). The type of bots you are writing could absolutely be coded in any of the above languages and more (ruby, perl, php to name a few).

Yes you can do sock programming using c#, its pretty easy you can use book c# network programming

This thread isn't about C but about C# which is quite different.
Any way C/C++ still have their niches, basically when the program is ran in an environment that requires careful usage of resources or some low-level work.
