did you try copying these "$10k youtubers" or did you try using your own mind and doing something different that works with the existing system?
If you say it's impossible to earn now then I'm sorry but its because your mindset is outdated and you are trying stuff that is outdated.
There is always money, you just have to adjust to how things are working now. I've seen countless youtubers grow channels from nothing to 5 figure earners within 10 - 20 months by being consistent and making quality videos.
And then, you can only cheat a system for so long. How about trying to work within the system first and getting some money out of that before trying to play it?

Yes will depend on the owner mostly. If you just reach out and say "Hey I have this video which is related to your blogpost X or Y" some will do it even for free or they will give you a price. It is easier to reach out for Youtube embeds than backlinks
