Buzzfeed and SEO

Question about sites like Buzzfeed: I notice their articles don't contain a lot of words a majority of the time. They use a lot of Twitter responses, memes, etc..do these things help with SEO? Or are they just so old and big that they constantly make front page of Google even if their articles don't seem to contain much depth. What am I missing here?

They did have a lot of articles written professionally along the way and got a lot of media attention. This, along with age and authority, makes every crap they write to be indexed fast and considered for ranking
 
Buzzfeed is an authority site with tons and tons of links so don't expect Google to treat your website the way it treats theirs if you follow what they currently do.

I don't think short articles, tweet embeds, and stuff like that add any SEO value though.
 
BuzzFeed’s content marketing strategy is so successful - because they care to invest in quality, even though to do that they have to publish a ton of crap in the process.
It creates more clickbaits, as well.

Short Answer: Yes, social signals and authority hacking help with SEO.
