Hi,
I'm wondering if buying Wikipedia links is a good idea for a real Loong term project and if it's effective for ranked (all Wikipedia links are nofollow) worth the 20$?
Thank you

If you can get the link to stay more than 6 months to a year on a page very relevant to your site's topic, it will add to your site's semantic link to that subject.

That is, to Google's brain, it's very very probable that your site is related to whatever that page is about because the link's been there for a long time and it's probably getting clicked..

It does not pass link juice, it only serves as a strong indicator that your site is about that subject. But only if it stays there 6 months to a year or more ideally.

Are you saying you can get links on wiki for $20? Well, like the above. If the links can last for a couple of months. Then it is worth the $20.

Guess it depends on your keyword, as some wikipedia articles are notoriously hard to edit (while others are really really easy).

I do have an aged wikipedia account and add links to new projects once in a while , but I really couldn't say I am benefitting in any significant manner. It's just another piece in the grand picture I guess.

Soo..if you can get a relevant wikipedia link very easy - go for it. Otherwise, skip it. It's not worth spending hundreds of dollars on :)
The traffic from wikpedia is rather low as well, even if you get a resource link on a high traffic keyword.

Interested to know where you get a Wikipedia link for $20

I got a wikipedia link for a year now, 0 traffic and it's nofollow, it didn't even affect the ranking at all, keyword hasn't moved since then.

20$ wikipedia link is garbage sold out on seoklerk ,fiverr with exploit where is published images from some events and some proclaimed seo guru sell the method for 200$ on some webinars. But this links has no value at all.
Wikipedia as any web site must check any link of it DA and PA and CF and TF.To get idea how strong is the link where will be put anchor on wikipedia web site.
Some web part from wikipedia has about 40+ TC and CF and gain a lot of authority some gain nothing.
Must be very careful in this.
This is sword with 2 sides.
If you put on wikipedia backlink from your web site, you are gambling a lot.If backlink is not there after 7-9 months and google don't see you are in danger to start losing ranks from google.Google will flag as spam.

Thank you guys for the answers, this idea of getting a flag as spam scared the ... out of me, because its a long term project

Viral traffic and social engagement is the new SEO. You can still go for Wiki and try to influence for lead generation. The question is how long does it stays. Most of the links gets removed by their moderators for irrelevancy.

Depends on the legitimacy of your content. The wiki editors will gank/remove your link if the linked content seems like bs or isn't trustworthy/authoritative.
