Buying links - how to find and filter?

Can anyone suggest the best method to navigate the marketplace?

Spending days reading though pages of ‘lady gaga boys club hulk busting super package ultimate pbn pump’ images is unrealistic.

Has anyone ever bothered to tabulate this stuff? Or is there some sort of community maintained recommended list or anything?

Read the post, its advertisment.
Next read the moderator who accepted the sales thread.
Try to find reputable members review, and check those too.
Ask for samples
Do your own research, check metrics, content etc.
Ask your questions to sellers - and then place order if you are happy.

You get what, time and money you invest into it

Sidenote, i personally, steer away from people who have 3000 + post, but barely 100 reaction score. I like to use members that provide value, other than their sales.

Most of what is for sale is a scam.

Allow me to tell you one piece of advice:

Anything that is a one time purchase is a scam. Selling one time purchase links is not a sustainable business model.

First of all, I feel your pain because it seems that there's so much selection that it's very easy to get confused.

You can't tell which is which and which ones are worth your hard-earned money and which ones are all too forgettable.

I would focus first on link providers based on how they create links.

You have to understand there's a big difference between building links meaning you fill in a form and outcomes a page with your information on it with a link to your target site.

Those are fairly easy to make.

There are harder links to make because you have to go through some sort of editorial process.

I'm talking about guest posting and even in that situation there are many different levels, there are service providers here that will give you guest posts because they control the sites.

This situation of course is quite different when they don't control the third-party site.

Your first step should be to segment the different link providers in terms of how they generate their links.

The next step then is to filter the quality of their backlink sources.

Personally speaking, I am biased towards press releases.

I'm talking about newsworthy press releases that focus on data that your website has access to.

You write the data linking your site to some sort of controversy or trend in your industry.

This is the kind of link attraction or link earning strategy that propelled websites like Pornhub and OkCupid to the top of their respective industries.

So mainstream websites that normally wouldn't touch porn or dating sites with a ten-foot pole link to them all day every day.

Why? They released information based on their data that people are interested in.

That's the secret of effective press release SEO.

It's all about the releases being newsworthy.

Check the samples and analyse its metrics and read the reviews given by legit users

just go through the first 3/4 pages. that will keep you in the most recent threads

This is the culprit.

We have spent hundreds of thousands so far, and the main problem is the content these sellers write and, even more important for me, the anchort placement: more often than not you get anchors without any relevant surrounding text, or without any surrounding text at all

Ask for samples get going with blog comment and pbns , get some tiered link building over them , but get some samples before ordering !

Always ask for samples. Look for relevancy more than metrics. If the seller can only offer general websites for your niche, don't do it.
The marketplace is a bit chaotic with all the sellers with massive infographics. Be aware, there are many guestposts farms. The metrics (and even the traffic) look good but those sites build on expired domains are ready to explode after 2 years of massive guestposting.
Don't get impressed by huge discounts. It always means the service is extremely overpriced.
I also suspect there are some falses reviews to boost the sales.
The reaction score here is a good metric to see if the seller is more than just a link reseller. The only good service I could recommend so far is made by a guy with very high reaction score here. No surprise I guess.

The more I test and buy here, the more I think having your own lists of direct contacts is the best thing to save some money and to do some more precise SEO. Buying quality lists and making your own lists (I am doing it for the good gigs on Fiverr) are the most powerful tools for your SEO adventure in the long term.

I think it is better to work directly with the website owner for better quality inside the post. I've seen a bit too many barely readable articles with links which look like akward inside the article. You are losing tons of relevancy. Metrics are a bit overused here.

You can try with 5$ packs what you feel and sounds promising may work.
If buying 5$ pack can you get even a little tiny ranks you can buy bigger packs.
