Hey guys,

I've recently set up a print on demand store and I've started experimenting with paid ads on facebook / instagram. I suspect having a new social media page on both of these networks with less than 10 followers/likes makes the site look shady af in the eyes of customers. I was thinking I could maybe buy about 1k followers for both pages as well as a bunch of likes for all of the posts to add some social proof. But I worry this could mess up the ad algorithms and they will start showing the ads to poorly targeted users. Could that happen?

Also, if you have any experience or recommended actions with fresh social profiles for eCommerce sites, please share!

For me, I used some tools to get free likes (google it), and at the same time used some funds to promote the page. You should still post interesting content at the same time on your page, so your new likers have something to look at when they visit your page.

Fake likes will mess up the algorithm for your organic reach. Not sure if it matters for your paid ads, but probably.

I've done this before:

PPE ad in Vietnamese (target: Vietnam) telling people to like the page to win something (not sure if allowed anymore). I had my Vietnamese VA write the ad.
PPE worldwide target for all posts.

I've done it before running ad campaign... not sure what would be consequences for adding like while running ad though...
