Buying feedbacks on Ebay

Once in awhile I will bid and buy some of those 0.01 cent auctions. Those are basically buying feedbacks.

What I'd like to know is exactly what is ebay's policy on this sort of stuff? Obviously we do not say outright that we are doing this to buy and sell feedbacks, but off the record, we all know those penny auctions for digital photos or recipes are just for buying/selling feedbacks. Is this legit and safe to do as long as you don't blatantly say it's exchanging feedbacks?

How many can I buy or sell even that would be considered a safe range?

I wouldn't recommend it, although eBay does not care most of the time. I know that Amazon has been shutting down accounts for fake reviews and purchases.

I thought the min bid was 99 cents for items? I could be wrong, never checked, but I could swear I've not seen anything lower than 99 cents for years

Anyway, as long as the seller hasnt made his listings poorly and thus get flagged by vero, you should be able to buy them without negative consequences pretty well

however, feedback purchasing is strictly against ToS, I imagine if someone catches wind of you buying these in bulk and reports it to ebay they're going to hurt you. Can also possibly happen if the seller gets flagged (they may go after all his buyers)

I personally would recommend just to build it naturally, it'll save you a few bucks, save you hassle, and you wont have it lingering in the back of your mind.

Feedback # isn't a big deal anyway, sure being under 100 may make a few buyers pass for someone else, but it's hardly worth concerning yourself with, I say why risk it

thanks for the replies, yes I agree with all of you. It seems there are quite a few sellers that have even over 1000 or 10,000 feedbacks but do sell these penny items occasionally and they have been doing it for a long time it seems. Obviously, trying to determine motive is a grey area. Maybe they really do like to sell photos they took for a few cents on ebay.
