Buying expired domains

Hi Guys,

Just discovered that I can buy expired domains that relate to my money sites' niche. Just wondering what your strategy is. You buy a domain with a relevant URL name to your niche, check if it has atleast 50 backlinks or so, buy it, buy cheap hosting, and 301 it to your site? Or do build a blog on it (similar to a TIER1?) and link an article back to your money site?

Just a note Mark, if you're ever 301'ing a domain, there's no need to buy hosting. Re-directs can be done from a domain registrar.
 
Ok thanks for your replies guys. 1 more question. Let's say I checked the backlink profile and things look fine on webarchive. I buy 5 expired domains and 301 them from the registrar. Is there any way to measure how much 'juice' i'm getting from these links?

Pretty much all of it with .301, but don't 301 redirect 10-20 domains to your money site, it'll be damn suspicious.
 
Additional question.
Im filtering on expireddomains on the world 'insurance', and sort on highest amount of backlinks. A site I found i.e. has
1.7k 'Moz external links' and 354 DP (Domain pop).
When i check this domain in opensiteexplorer, than I don't see any links or info coming up.
So yeah - which metrics should I go on here then? And how do you guys find your expired domains?

Also, if I choose to start using them for a private blog network, whats the best option for hosting if i.e. I buy 5 domains. I should buy 5 different hosting packages (so they have different IPs) right? Just google for 'cheapest webhosting'?

I agree that 20 301's at a site is not natural in most cases, however, I've never managed to trip any type of filter or score a penalty by 301'ing loads of domains to a money site. And I've tested it quite some number of times, with no negative outcomes.
That said, I'd definitely categorize it as a higher risk strategy than perhaps PBN's.
 
Thanks for this information. if expired domain was hit under any google penalty (for content not for links) and i use it...

is it cause Bad effect on NEW site ?

Use AHREFS to check the links and make sure you check the anchors as well to see if it was spammed .

dropped domains are better, since very often you get them with some PR already. Yes, you'll pay more, but you wont have to start from scratch either
 
Yes, you do not need hosting if you buy a domain so you can 301 redirect it. You can do it from your registrars panel.

I would recommend you to consider Shared Hosting plans were you can host 5 domains under one account. You need to consider fully managed hosting company which can guide you through this process.

if you're doing a pbn this is the worst idea ever. You can't just leave footprints like that
 
Wouldnt these be in the some C IP network then? I have to make sure that atleast the 'CCC' in i.e. 196.101.CCC.1 is different right?
 
Buy some cheap hostings
buy expired domains with high PA and DA
install wordpress on them or HTML basic, write a 1000 words article
wait for Google to index the site
link back to your money site
This way you can get lots of juice
(make sure the domain you bought is not penalized in any way)
 
The expired domains should be in the same niche as my money site right?
 
And can I pay someone (any service advice?) to find me a high PA DA niche expired domain? What would that cost? Like 50 or 100usd?
