Hey guys,

So I am wondering what the deal is with buying aged domains. According to many users on this forum, the domain age resets once it expires. So does this mean the only way to buy a domain that will keep its age is through a site like sedo or flippa? On the go daddy auction, when you go to one of the listed urls, it says

Notice: This domain name has expired on (date) and is pending renewal or deletion.

Does this mean the domain age has reset?

I have done a lot of searching and cant seem to find the proper answer to how or where I can buy a used aged domain. Your help is very appreciated.

There are many reasons why someone would buy an aged domain, and my answer to your question will depend on your planned usage of said domain. Could you provide just a little more information?

I plan on using the domain to rank for several adult related keywords and turning it into a brand over the course of a few months. I feel these keywords will be much easier to rank for with an aged domain. Maybe I should just buy a new domain and say to f*#@ with it...

In my experience, buying an aged-domain to build a brand on is most effective if you buy one that has a strong, existing backlink profile and existing PR. I use the Freshdrop service to find these. They have a 7-day trial so you can see how it works.

If you're in a hurry, this may not be the way to go ... but this it the best way I've found to get power from an expiring domain for a couple hundred dollars.

Thanks for the site link, I will check it out. Still not certain though on how to keep the domain age from resetting in google's eyes.

The site age will reset when the domain drops, but it won't matter. If you pick up a PR3-4 domain with a strong backlink profile for a couple hundred bucks, that's worth much more than simply having an aged domain.

I buy aged domains from Godaddy auctions. You can find there lots of aged domain+PR+links and sometimes Dmoz listed...
But don't forget to check if the PR is real or not.
