Ok, I need some help in this...

Soon I will start on making website's for clients and I have a question about the domain names:

When you buy the domains for clients on let's say Godaddy, you make a new account with the client data or you have a reseller account for this? What's the best practices?

I have a reseller account but its up to you i believe what you prefer.

I will try with reseller account later but for the first 3 websites I will set up new accounts on the domain registrar with the client information. I hope it's ok with that...

When I used to do it I used to register them in my Namecheap account, put their details in the registrant fields and my details in the billing and tech contact fields.

That way gave my clients the confidence that if I ever buggered off / got arressted / fell under a bus, they could still get the domain back without too much trouble.

Worked for me anyway :)

I prefer making a new account in GoDaddy to avoid trouble in the future.

I would prefer to register the domain in my name. That way if the client did not pay his bill I would have control over the site. After the bill is settled it is an easy push to a new account. Just keep the reseller hosting as is. :)

I agree with him as it will keep you secure.
