Buying aged domains - Need some help

Hi all,

Recently, I have been looking every morning at expired domains in order to get some and built T1 for some of my websites.
Just now, I found a domain which is PR1 - DA34 / PA44 - Ahrefs URL Rank 88 - Domains Rank 55
At first I though that it wasn't bad and maybe I could get it.

The only thing is that when I look at the backlinks and anchors text, it looks like the domain was heavily spammed with abercrombie shit and such things. (748k backlinks / 1.7k domains)

I'm quit new to this, and I don't really know who I should approach these cases. It's not the first domain I find with similar numbers and type of links/anchors.

So, in one sentence : Should I buy expired domains with good "numbers" but shitty backlinks for T1 ?

Any advice is welcome.

Well are the backlinks shitty, or is it just the anchor text?

Penguin drops you for certain KW's and not others.

If the domain has been spammed previously you are better off buying it for T2. Your T1 layer should consist of domains that you absolutely trust.
 
Avoid domains with any sign of SEO work. If the anchor text contains a money keyword like "cheap uggs boots" or "buy viagra online", you know someone has been trying to do some SEO shit.

The only expired domains you want are those with ONE HUNDRED percent natural link text.
 
There are a lot of aged or expired domains will 'bad' backlinks (i.e. exact anchors, spammy domains, non-English sites). I would not recommend investing in a site just because of a decent PR or DA score UNLESS it has a clean history.

Think about it: the previous owner spent time and money building backlinks, then left the domain to expire...WHY? Because it probably got banned or ranked poorly.

Domain Authority is really easy to manipulate: more backlinks = higher DA.

Never trust those metrics alone. I avoid ANYTHING that's not natural. Spammed domains are most probably penalized and have been devalued, so I'd suggest against them. Instead, go for domains with less impressive metrics but with a more natural backlink profile.
 
Hmm, I've got a good dozen domains that are SEO touched but I didn't think much about this. What happens if I set it up with a separate host as part of my private blog network? I don't care how high the domain ranks on the search, I just want google to see that high PA page has my link in a relevant article to my site.
 
The domains need to be clean. Spammy domains usually won't be indexed after you purchase them
