Buying after ATH
I see a lot of people trying to buy on dips way too soon after a coin price has reached an all time high (ATH) and it's a full on facepalm moment. Maybe you've noticed these same patterns.

After a coin comes down off an ATH, I will not look at the coin again for at least 32 hours, and usually I will not buy back in until at least 48 hours has past the ATH mark, unless some big news is coming. See attached. I looked at a few coins with recent ATH's to show you the timing of rebuying after an ATH. This pattern seems to go for most coins that reach ATHs. Ignore the pump and dumps.

Riding Waves
I also like to ride the waves. After an ATH, I look for a 1.50 - 2 day pattern of small but consistent waves. If I see at least that amount of time of relatively stable, steady, but small movements in price, and no bad news expected for project, then I will start riding the waves. I buy back in on one of the dips and wait for a very small increase in price and then sell. I do this up to 2x between major spikes to build my coin count. I've been able to increase my coin count by as little as 100 on each trade, or as much as 3000+, between major spikes with this method. But after hitting at least 2 wave peaks, I rarely go for a third as I find it to be pushing my luck. Hitting two wave peaks seems to the be sweet spot.

I'm should add, although I have a few long term holds (3-6 months), I'm a day trader and don't really hold any coin longer than 30 days (outside a few long term holds), similar to HonestIM, especially after an ATH.

Nice share thank you!
I made too much mistakes for riding waves in FOMO.
To be a day trader is all about take the right decision and don't be emotional

thats not a bad strategy in the stock market, but for crypto, where u can just hold for a month and 10X your money, why do these little plays? thats a strategy i used to use with stocks cuz they dont move as much... so u take anything u can get

This. Swing trading vs HOLD. = HOLD win! (only in crypto).
I tried to swing, but meh, so much headache, risk, and hard work.

While you can just pump, seat back and relax doing your other work.
Try to look into it again after few weeks / months and boom! It already turning 10x-20x.

After that u can take the profits and pump into another coin. Rise and repeat.
Unless you really believe in the project, you can just take & sell small % of it and pump into another new penny coin.

Btw thanks for the info and tips. ;)

how is 3-6 months considered a long term hold? o_O

I'm a day trader. Prefer to sell on peaks and rebuy, to make the same money multiple times. Look at TRX. ATH (0.30) and was at around 0.15 earlier today. Sold just after the peak. Made good profit and rebought the dip. Will make the same money now when it goes up. Coin count can increase a lot by doing this.

Should clarify, long-term hold, meaning I revisit 3-6 months, see where it's at. If I still feel the project is worthy of a longer hold, I will. But the crypto game changes too fast. XPR is a perfect example. I felt great on this project for the last 4 months. Then the article hit about the billionaire founders and a lot of accusations flying about the project now, so I have changed it from long-term hold to one that I check the news very often now. I also took out some money out of XRP and moved into NEBL.

Crytpo changes so fast on a single news article, I think any hold longer than 30 days is just playing with fire. Take some profits and lock secure them in the bank. Rebuy the dips. Works for me.

eventually the fast changing trends will stop. Not very soon but eventually. More people involved in the market, more experts, statisticians, more scrutiny on projects. All of this is good for me since I only put my money on future winners. But the people chasing pumps will be screwed.

This is very true, i hate to admit it but eventually yes it will be the case.

crypto messes with your sense of time. 10k bitcoin correction was something like 2 months ago but it seems like ages ago. plus when people see coins rising 3x, 4x, 5x, every day they become impatient, which is fine by me. also it's all relative for a day trader then 3 months really is a long time to hold a coin and they can probably make more money doing their thing with the mony
