Buying Ad Space on sites

Hey guys,
I plan on launching a site soon selling a few of my services. I'm thinking of buying ad spots from sites such as buysellads.com but I want to ask a few questions before I do anything :D

- What's the average CTR from impressions? (I know this depends on the ad placement, but eh!)
- What spot is the best to buy?
- Should I buy ads on a fixed price or CPM?
- Are there any tips for the design of the ad to increase chances of people clicking through?

Advertise on BHW
- Depends.
- For me, anything but 125 x 125 or favicon
- Your budget will dictate, or whether or not only fixed or CPM is offered.
- If they allow animated, go animated, but not *FLASHY*



Go buy some ads and test. Also, look for site owners selling links directly, it's usually a better deal.

Thanks for the great response! To be honest I thought about contacting site owner's directly, but I'm just a bit worried people may scam, you never know who's behind the computer D:

Couldn't seem to find my answer but, how much does Buysellads.com charge from each purchase anyway? how much does the seller actually receive
 
if you're planning to contact those site owner, i can help you...i have blogger friends who accept sidebar advertisement...
 
i would suggest try contacting the site owner. Maybe you can come up with a negotiation that benefits you both. Try to get his or her IM's (skype,ym, etc.. ) and then do a video chat instead of the normal typing conversation. that way you can have a look at his/her face and then save all your chat logs just a precautionary measure. :)

A: It totally depends, you need to test.

- What spot is the best to buy?
A: Top and side ( 468*60 , 728*90 and 160*600)

A: Depends on your budget. Again you need to test.

- Are there any tips for the design of the ad to increase chances of people clicking through?
A: Make a simple banner, you can do this in paint as well. Try to have black background and use white text. This worked best with me :)

Now talking with my personal experience, you really need to test a lot, plus, don't put all money at one website. Just split and keep testing until you find which one is working with you.
Don't be surprised if you lose your first $100 while you test. But seriously, if you could learn media buying then you can easily double your money using this method.
 
I guess this is possible to do with CPA offers as well isn't it?
 
Check out BSA it is having some great sites and also prefer bhw advertisement some lacks Of members will visits daily

Don't expect a lot of owners to respond to you. I did this a while back and out of the 30 owners I contacted only about 3 responded and only 1 was interested in having my ad on their site. It surprised me because I thought the owners would want to make money but i guess they didn't. Anyway good luck!

Yeah, sometimes people don't check their emails so that's expected haha. I'm thinking of starting off buying an ad space on a site to see the traffic/clicks and see what happens after ^^

You'll lose money with BSA. Save it. Unless you really look into the 2,500 publishers they have and thread out about 96% of them. You are better off putting $100 into Google adwords then buying on BSA.
