Buying a link from "donations" page?

I see a lot of people buy links from "donation" pages. These pages have pretty nice TF/CF (for example TF 57/CF 59) but the OBL of them is high, around 200-2000 etc.

How useful are these kind of links? There is no context around them and the OBL is huge. I have seen some ask $9 for them and some ask $1000.

I will stay away from any page where link placement is easy and cheap.
