Have an opportunity to buy a site in my niche that ranks well for tons of long-tail keywords, has a huge backlog of content, and has been around for over a decade. Decent backlink profile, not spammy, etc. Nothing crazy, DR of 12, but it's definitely an authority site, as it ranks quite well for keywords, just very little SEO work has been done on the site over the years.

I can get the site for a good price.

I'm wondering how you guys would use this site? I was thinking insert links to my site into some of the best pages on the site, add a link on the homepage maybe? I also was thinking a redirect, but that seems like a big waste of the content catalog.

I know I can extract a lot of value out of this, I just don't know what path to take with it. Any ideas?

It's a good opportunity and worth availing too.

You can use it in a different way. You can give backlinks on your main site from already ranked posts.

You can rank both sites on same keywords. So that you can get traffic on both sites. You can earn more in that way.

Like, if your keyword is " how to loose weight " and your both sites rank #1 and #2. User came and explore site #1 and then he go back and open site #2. So traffic will come on your sites only. I think it will double your revenue.

301 will be wastage of both sites.
