buyin domains with pr

I just met with a lawyer who wants to beat his competitor in a niche and local small cities. The other lawyer has a pr 3 site with about 2k links going back to to it.
To make things faster i found an expired domain in that niche that is a .com and used to have a pr4 (at least as go daddy expired auction says).

will the pr stay once we install WP on it and a new site and start link building or its a waste of time and money?

its a hit or miss, if you don't have content or should I say valuable unique content that google likes the next pr update my hit you and you might go down or stay the same

Just tell him yes I can make it happen, but there is no guarantee and then show him the dush who goes by the name of Matt Cuntz I think I spelled it right And tell your lawyer if you are having issues take this guy to court

it wont stay there for sure... It depends on how you build backlinks from now on.. The pr will surely stay the next update but will definitly drop to the next update but do some good backlinks hope it will help you.. Pr has got nothing to do with ranking now a day, just my 2 cents

PR=backlinks(very good)+effort

Make sure that you use a redirect plugin so that all of the missing pages with PR are redirected and not lost. If you want to take it a step further, recreate the pages using archive.org. If the links are still there, it will hold value. Of course no one knows if it will still hold the PR, but it can still be a valuable domain.
