Hello, I have the opportunity to purchase a PR5 site that meshes with the vertical I'm focused on.

Does anyone know the best method for transferring the domain/website to new hosting/new registrar?

Do you know of any other techniques used to keep PR in the transfer of ownership so I could protect my investment?

Any help will be much appreciated... Thanks.

Transferring domain to new hosting is simple as setting new host's DNS servers and no problem should occur. Did it a lot of times in a matter of minutes (if hoster is not godaddy, of course)

I believe same case is with moving a domain to a new registrar.

my suggession is transfer site after google update i think it is in 2-3 months
dont take risk with PR5.

transfer host only affect a little bit your SERP. it doesn't affect your PR.

btw, how much did you pay for it?? hope you bought good site not site with "fake" or "cheat" PR (some site get PR 5 for only 1 month with few links, dunno how can they do that)

301 redirect the old domain to new domain. That is the best option to transfer link juice; otherwise simply grow the purchased site even further and keep it separate.

Please be aware that even with a 301 redirect, it can take a few months for full link juice and authority to pass on to the new destination

What's the best method of checking if it's a fake or if it's the real deal? Is there any software or a technique for it? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, when I say I'm transferring the domain, I just mean I'm moving it to go daddy under my name, not changing the current domain1 to a new domain2. Thanks.

search for fake pagerank checker on google and check with few.

or do a link:yoursite.com on google and see how many you get. also with yahoo siteexplorer.
