There was a time that I was being mentored by a group of businessmen and one of the things they had us to do as a test was to write ebooks on topics with which we were most familiar. I know NOW that they were gearing up to teach us the in's and out's of IM but they never explicitly told us that at the time.

I wrote mine on the topic of financial trading (been dabbling since 2007). It was more of an introduction to all things regarding speculating. 80 pages in total, complete w/ a trading strategy and the demo trading statements of when I and a colleague forward tested that trading strategy for a month each. Ebook was written from scratch, 100% unique content. Edited, proofread, images added.

Long story short, the group disbanded before release of ebooks and I still have mine, sitting on the digital shelf of my hard drive collecting virutal dust, along w/ a short ebook (15 pages) on flipping cars AND a 10 page "10 Steps to Perfect Personal Credit" ebook, both also written by me from scratch. I've been told by those that read them that quality is top notch.

My question is how could I best utilize these as assets in my, now, conscious IM efforts? Free giveaway to get email addresses? Landing page w/ content locker?

This is a limited amount of content, and also highly targeted, so it's use is mostly as some type of low-end final product you are selling to people, or you could also use it as incentive material to try to build a list. Perhaps though this is your wake-up call that you may actually be a writer. If so, there is a lot more money to be made in either ghost writing, or creating content with specific intent.

It's really hard to market stuff after you write it. Generally the best course if sales is your goal is to start with the end in mind. That really means knowing what you ultimately intend to sell, and then creating the content that makes that sale possible. The best avenues of exploration here are to continue to develop your writing skills if that's what you want to do, and sell those services to people either as a ghost writer, article writer, or other kind of writer ... or learn copywriting, and write compelling sales copy for other people or for marketing your own products and services.

You appear to be asking "what can I do with the things I've already written," and unfortunately they have limited use in my opinion other than possibly in shining you in the right career direction. Beyond that all you really can do is leverage those assets for list-building, or sell them to someone who is already established in those niches, or jump into those niches yourself I suppose.
