When you have a business bank account and its under your name so when you deal with payments your only ever giving over your business name and bank details, is there a way someone can find out your personal details from it? i.e your real name and address?

As i use a PO box i wondered if someone could get my real address through some means?

Most business banks require you to prove your a business (DBA paperwork). Most cities require you to file a DBA in the newspaper.

Yes they could trace your business name back to you.

No Only if they work in a bank (Your bank). In the UK if you get a business acc. some have the name of the acc. holder and then business name underneath. (Myne was like this with Natwest & LLoyds TSB.

But you are safe

It depends what country you are in. Without knowing that its impossible to answer.

I assume you are a sole trader then? I use limited companies and you can find out everything there is to know about one of those just by going on http://companieshouse.gov.uk/ and typing in the company name. If you are a sole trader though I guess your trading name might not directly reveal your identity.

Yeah im from the UK.
And when i accept payment or a company needs my business bank details, my business bank account has my po box and business name but i also had to register my personal name and address just wondered if that info was available to the public some how

If you are in the UK then a trip to the post office is all anyone needs to do to get your home address from your PO Box number. The Royal Mail have to give this information out to anyone who asks.

You need a mailbox from somewhere like here http://www.mbe.co.uk/ if you are worried about your privacy.

Somone could identify you from the Bank or your PO Box - if you were doing something wrong.

They always tend to trace criminals by tracing the money if all else fails.

Yeah i know that please read the post again! I gave the bank my po box AND my personal address as they require both but when i give people my bankaccount details for payments etc i tell them my po box but can they ring the bank or look anywhere to find out the personal details i gave the bank when signing up for my business account

In the US PO Box rentals require an ID so they would have all of your information.

In which case they can find you easily. PM me your PO box number and I will reply with your home address on Monday when the post office is open.

Yes your bang on there, i am sole trader, and not reg. with companies house. I dont think he will be ltd. though as he seems to want to stay anon.

Thanks:o

I dont have a po box with the royal mail i have it with a company in london that dont give out personal details.. Im talking about the bank -_- they had to have my personal details aswell as my business details in order for me to have a business account

If you prefer true anonymity you should never supply your personal information to another party, as that entity may freely share it with other organizations and governments, or surrender it under court order. Find a private mail box service, or friendly person in your network who will supply the personal documents and info, and/or set a front company or maildrop up offshore. If the feds really want to find you, they may be able to put up enough manpower and manhours to do so, but at least they will have to follow lawful due process, get warrants, etc, instead of just flicking a switch to get your info.

As long as you don't really upset someone to the point that they hire a private investigator you should be fine then. The bank is not allowed to give out your personal details to just anyone.

Is the London company British Monomarks by any chance?

Ok so they cant get my details with Any of the bank details anywhere? Like they rang up and said hello bank we are "company" calling regarding the following business account can u provide us the personal details of this account as we would like to no who runs it.

(and no i aint done nothing wrong i just wanted to no as there are some weird people in the world and id rather stay behind my business name and not give out real info)

I'm pretty sure it would be illegal for the bank to give out your home address or other personal details without a court order. I really don't think you need to worry about it.

your question is not clear. are you asking "If I am operating under a company name, can someone find out I am the owner?" the answer to this question is yes.
