This is my company. http://www.quickeyespeedreading.com/ , and here's the background.

The very first business I ever built, and honestly one of my favorites. The idea came from Tim Ferriss in the Four Hour WorkWeek. He talked about teaching a speed reading class at Princeton. He posted flyers all around the campus and got 30 students to signup at $50/each. After a 3 hour class, he walked away with $1500. ($500/hr, minus the cost of flyers and prep time)

I wrote a book, taught the class, and made a little bit of money. I didn't pull off the hourly numbers he did, but sold a decent amount and reinvested into the company.

I now control the best speed reading software available anywhere. An amazingly talented developer, a ton of research, and a little bit of branding got me to where I am now. The software teaches memory, speed reading, note taking, and a ton of other things that are designed to create an overly effective and efficient student.

My target market is college students, but highschool students and business professionals make up a decent amount of my sales. All of my sales are coming from organic traffic, although I'm about to try out an adwords campaign.

Again, the best software on the market, research it if you don't believe me. (Sorry Mac users, you need windows to use it). There's a free trial on the site as added motivation for people to try it.

Here is my issue. I feel like I've reached my peak.

I want to expand to every student around the country. Literally this one bit of software could revolutionize the education system, and change the future forever. Even the world eventually.

What's my next move? I'm thinking about Clickbank, and maybe some other networks. (I'll be signing up for Cb this week)

Would mass (e)mailing work? (students are the target market)

On Campus flyering (I tried near me, but it was the last day of exams, sold 2, but I think I missed the hot point).

Talking to schools about buying it? Government?

    >

Again it is the most effective software available. And it works. The sheer number of hours of development and research that went into this is incalculable.

(I'm currently talking to a very well known marketing company to re design the site and sales page, and hopefully increase my conversion rates).

    What do you guys think?

Basically I want the blackhat approach to this. I stand behind my product, but need to reach the masses.

Do you have an affiliate program ?
Have you placed it with a CPA network ?
Do you offer a discounted student version ?
Do you offer a lite version ?
Do you sell it on e Bay ?

  3. Firstly Congratulations. I really like people who have their own products. You have really asked some good questions which might be helpful for others. Personally I don't like pushing product via IM. So my points are from product point of view.

Based on the information I could come up with these

    - Port the app to MAC world
    - Make WP, Android , Iphone & ipad apps (you need to write app for each...one app can be distributed to several platforms )
    - Make s/w available in other languages (Spanish , french etc )
    - Concentrate selling more to non native speakers ( who take exams like toefl , ielts , gre , gmat , sat etc )
    - Release frequest upgrades with features (so don't release all features in one shot )

Hope its helps. Feel free to discuss about the above mentioned. Its also worth studying about Product Management.

I'm actually ranked high for "speed reading affiliate", but only have the Payloadz affiliate program. I'll be adding CB this week though.

How would a CPA help me? I would pay each time someone signs up? I guess that could work.

Payloadz sucks with the discounts, and you can only offer a discount that is a string of 10 random numbers.

There is the free version that limits the functionality. And it's an interesting contract I have with the developer, but I'm not allowed to sell it on ebay.

I have branded and sell my own Product against big competitors like LG, Mitsubishi, etc..(home appliance)

All i did was see how bigger companies that made it did, and piggybacked off of them..

My brand sells out before any other brand i offer, all because of this.

What this sounds like is something like Rosetta stone..(using memory and all the general stuff stone uses)

Research that company and see what/how they did and mimic it tweaking as necessary..

This will put your brand as a common name...

You can even do "Heard of Rosetta stone? Here is the next best educational system"...horrible example but you get the idea..

Ha that's a good idea. Definitely will think a bit more about that.

One of my other sites is in the education niche, and is an article about ADHD drugs.

In the sidebar, I put an ad for my software with the words "Better than Adderall"

It's driving a bit of traffic.

How's it convert? When I visited the site I had no desire to read the sales copy due to the fact that it looks like one big glob of centered text. NO testimonials, video should auto play as well. I am no sales copy expert but I think you could use a lot of improvement on it. Maybe try optimizepress. Just my 2 cents..
