I finally decided on eventually getting a Caucasian shepherd dog,as my next dog,and i'm thinking of getting supplements to bulk the dog up to 220lbs.

Do you guys think dog supplements are legit or bs?

Well, I guess same principles that apply to humans apply to animals too. Since the dog doesn't smoke or drink or waste entire nights out in bars getting shitfaced, he's already got a significant head start over us.

Interesting choice. Depends on the supplement and what it's purpose is supposed to be. This is mostly more of a multi-vitamin it looks like. Attempting to bulk up your dog that much probably wouldn't be a good idea. You basically wind up crippling the dog with excessive stress on the bones and joints. 100 - 150 pounds or so is pretty darn big all on it's own. :)

Accelerating growth, adding more 'bulk' and muscle than is natural or healthy for the structure of the dog / breed (in general OR too quickly) and overworking (especially during growth) can all lead to things like hip dysplasia and severe arthritis as well as other bone and joint problems pretty quickly. In a dog that large those are usually huge concerns from the start and some supplements could be a VERY bad idea for some breeds.

I wouldn't intentionally try to bulk the dog up. It's a living thing and your pet, not a science experiment. You wouldn't want to risk giving the animal any health/bone/joint problems down the road would you?

Just feed him a healthy diet and let him grow at a natural rate.
