Bulletproof domains

Please check always date of posting. .To is not recommended anymore. Forget that.

.cr, .ru, .su, .cr..is and .sc

cheapprivacy.ru for .ru and .su no ID Passport required or any info.
so it's actually advised against using .to? Even though they've compromised a bit recently it must still be a good domain right? Or is it really bad?

I am looking for a domain to use long term for something that will potentially mean getting DMCA complaints. Would the beat option be a .to domain? And where would I find them a little cheaper if possible, and open to other options.
Let me tell you, there’s none. You will see eggsperts saying x y z registrars are above law. Well, they are not. Unless you have a site on the darknet, everything can be taken down if you piss off the right people. Even if you are on the darknet, you can be traced back (for example, entry and exit nodes being controlled by the same person. That’s for the visitors though. I don’t deal with darknet that much so not sure. NSA is sure though.).

Don’t waste your money on shitty registrars and business ideas, if you take my words.

Still a good domain if you are a small fish, if you are a big fish then is not adviced.
In fact there is not bulletproof domains, always can be takedown. I must say they can be more harder to takedown but is not impossible.

yeah, exactly. You still advise .is though?

If you are trying to host content, thats what makes it so difficult.

Pirate Bay only survives because:

1. They dont host anything, its a linkfarm for torrents
2. The full website is just a few GB and everyone can download a copy

Thats actually why the feds gave up shutting them down. It wont change anything if they shut down piratebay....

ISNIC have started cracking down on abusereports and have nullrouted many piracysites. Even though the registrar may be tolerant, ISNIC won't tolerate too many abusereports.

Stay away from Europe and the western world, countries with a modern courtsystem. Any entity can easily go to a european court, such as a dutch court and ask them to block or suspend your .nl domain. It's not always that simple in countries as Palestine, Yemen, China, or whatever. European countries also have strong and active anti-piracy agencies and lobbyists.

For "good" domains you might want to look to Africa or Asia, such as maybe:

.am (Armenia)
.rs (Serbia)
.su (Soviet Union)
.al (Albania)
.by (Belarus)
.ps (Palestine)
.na (Nambia)
.ge (Georgia)
.az (Azerbaijan)

Even if a tld may be good, you also have to find a non-us-based tolerant registrar.
See which domains http://now.top/, https://ru-tld.ru/en/, https://4domains.su/, http://cnobin.com/, https://regery.com/ have to offer, those are pretty decent registrars.

There's a great deal of https://www.iana.org/domains/root/db which also may be good.
https://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/top.html is a good example.

.top is a good example.
would you give this advice to someone who wants to, say, stream movies? Without it being hosted on the website would it still cause an issue?

Depends on how much attention you get and from who. If you're starting to draw much attention from RIAA, MPA, ACE, BREIN, etc. who doesn't mind spending a few bucks to go to court and try to seize your domain and/or server, I would for sure move away from US/EU territory for both domain/tld and server. It doesn't really matter much if content is hosted or embedded onto your server.

If you're just a regular Joe who receives a few daily dmcas from dmca agenies, you're probably fine with "most" TLDs, such as .to or .is.
As a general rule though, I think it's safer to choose non-us/eu domains, such as .al or .su.

Njal.la is the best where you can buy domains. It isn't cheap, but their Whois Privacy are the one of the best. They don't give your information easily.

I recommend don't use .com, and .net if you want do use these TLDs use .org is better than .com & .net domains.

Njal.la
Todaynic
peername.com (get a look into this!!!)
opennic.org
EasyDNS (Only purcharse .org from here) the domain from piratebay is registrated on EasyDNS, you can find if you google it "piratebay domain easydns" they don't will shutdown until a valid court order from Canada.
Piratebay stills online with .org domain. Decent registar that protect you from DMCA complaints. If they receive court order from Canada they will takedown. It only works with .org, forget .com and .net!!
bpw.sc

Domains you should look: .to, .cr, .ru, .su, .cr, .is, .co, .sc and .org (.org is not very safe but is better than using .com or .net)

Opennic and was been used by sci-hub, peername is very interesting, you can give a worth trying, better than nothing. Is more secure and better, but if you still want buying from normal market Njal.la is the best choice at this moment :)

Unless your content is very aggressive or highly forbidden you should go with Chinese Domain Registars like Todaynic
Would you suggest to use a .org if you are using a well know brand name in the domain?

Nop, but if you check thepiratebay.org is still online along this years, they bought the domain from EasyDNS, which is a Canadian.
They only shutdown .org with valid court order from Canada.

Like I say in all my posts .com and .net is not safe, the more safest is .org

Cheers.

is .co good?

.co would be far better than TLDs such as .com and .net.
If you are more cautious, it is a ccTLD, so you need to check the laws of the country and make sure they are appropriate for the services you want to deploy.
