My business caters to several hundred small businesses, mostly small restaurants, hair salons and auto repair shops. As a ?courtesy? for them being a customer I would like to submit their businesses to the major search engines so they can be found organically by their Business Name. For example, if someone is looking for Rachael?s Hair Salon, goes to Google and types in ?Rachel?s Hair Salon? I want the business to be found. All of these customers already have websites and email addresses.

Since we want to provide this as a ?free? service I am looking for a cost-effective way of bulk uploading the information to the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, SuperPages etc).

    Any suggestions would be welcome!

I don't my purchasing a program to accomplish as long as it is a 1 time fee without any recurring cost. Any ideas?

It's completely unnecessary to submit your sites to search engines. They will find you even with no promotion. I have to remember to set up my robots.txt file just to keep the spiders away from my new sites that are still in development. Google finds new sites within a week even with no promotion or incoming links.

Don't worry about submitting it to the search engines. What you would want to do for that is submit it to something like Google's Local Business center. It is free and all it takes is a phone or address verification. Their business will then show up on the search engine results with the Google Maps listing.
