Reason for building my own product:
Building your own product and then marketing it yourself is one way to become very successful. Its not as easy as re marketing someone else's product, and comes with more risks.
What I've done so far:
I've spent about a year on and off building a product that I can sell to a various vehicle tracking, and security markets. I'm in a good position because unlike most companies developing these sorts of products I was able to develop everything without having to hire coders and full time employees. So far I've spent a lot of time looking at what competitors are selling for, and getting an idea on how much they are moving a month.
What this Journal is for:
I'm going to use this journal to hopefully show how tons of hard work will pay off greatly. I plan on using a variety of IM methods to market my goods, which I will document here.
Short term goals:
Start marketing by June 1, 2013
Sell one device a day
Leave full time job after things appear stable (4-5 months?)
Long term:
Break 1k a day in profit
Once I learn from this experience later down the road I will feel more confident outsourcing some of these activities. But right now I want to hold onto as much of my cash as possible, which means doing all of the work myself.
