Hi all, I've recently created a niche search engine and am wondering if anyone has ideas for the best way to bring traffic? I already have a facebook fanpage set up and am attempting ads for Adwords, Bidvertiser and Facebook Ads. I was curious, would it be wise to do any kind of SEO for this? Since the website IS a search engine, would Google even rank it in top results for the targeted keywords? Or do you have any other ideas for creating traffic for a niche search engine? Once you have/own a site like this, your top priority
is to get the word out using all means available to your
disposal both online and offline.
You have got to be pushy especially when you are getting
good reviews and compliment from people/users..
Be open to advice/suggestions.
At the initial stage, your number one aim is to
promote the name. Once you become a trusted brand
you will get followers/users like Google and Social networking sites..
Not a day's job too, bear that at the back of your mind.

Other than the usual methods I suggest a browser hijack not a malicious one just take over their homepage and change it to your own. I am not sure how you would go about making this, but I believe it would work.
So coming back for another round, hoping to get a good idea. Would it be worth it to start a blog and try to SEO that in google rankings? There doesn't seem to be any other way to build traffic organically. I am using forums right now but that is only bringing in a small amount of traffic/day.
I built the Back-end with Python and SQLite3 and the Front-end with HTML/CSS/Javascript. It currently crawls a few hundred niche-specific sites every day, but I haven't been adding many new sites lately just building traffic. If you're interested in building one of your own I'd be happy to discuss. PS I don't think I'm allowed to post links to my own site on here?
