I have read that hyphens and underscores are the way to go, rather than just
    building with out them: "keywordkeywordkeyword"

But then dont non-hyphen domains do better than hyphened domains?

What do you guys use when building short/longtail keyword pages?

    This is what I do.

Keyword for domain name - with or without hyphens

    .com, .org, then .net only

Filenames will have keyword I am targeting for that page with hyphens (not underscores)

Title of Page will be keyword

Heading of Page will have keyword

Rest of page will use keyword 2 or 3 times max

Remember to name your image files appropriately as well and maybe you'll hit the google images search as well
