Building my first backlinked Articles

Hey Peeps,

So this is my first site, and i`m just getting a bit baffled as to where I can find article directories that are decent PR and that arn`t inactive.

I have submitted articles to about 5 sites from which I found in someone`s AMR list they posted in downloads.

All of those 5 have been inactive and haven`t approved my Articles lol, fail. And I even manually spun all 5...

Where do I start with this, is there anything you can recommend to download. I can`t afford ANY software i`m afraid.
