Building links for my first site...

I am currently working on my first WP site. It is currently on page 7 with no content or backlinks. It has been indexed for about 2 weeks now. I will start working on adding content by this week and backlinks right after. Since its my first site, I am learning as I go but I am taking action.

My KW gets about 1600-1700 local monthly searches and its an EMD. I shouldn't have a problem getting into #1 due to the very weak competition. I plan to monetize the site with CPA. I have the perfect offer for it. But I have questions about creating backlinks.

-How soon is too soon to begin adding backlinks?
-I will be entering the backlinks manually, Pr2+ backlinks only. How many per day would be ok?
-How long should I wait to start monetizing the site? Should I wait till i get on the first page?
-Besides Backlinks, what else can I do to create traffic? Article Submissions?

Sorry if i am asking too many questions, but besides searching this is the only way I learn. This will be a great learning experience, once I learn how to create a site and have it ranked, then I can test out different offers

Begin from day one.

It's almost impossible to add to many link manually. So just go ahead and create all the links you can get.

It can sometimes becomes a problem, if you are using automated linkbuilding tools!

Let me put it in this way. If you are on page 2 or more, then do you only get a few visitors a day with your search volumen. So there is really no point of having any CPA on you site at this stage.

If you use adsense, then will it only slow down the load of your page and that will make it a bit harder to rank. If you are using affiliate, then might G. give you a hard time as well.

Wait until you have a position, where you get more than 30-50 visitors a day. That's when you can begin to make money in the small end.

Use social media like twitter.

Since you have emd, and the competition is less, forget about monetizing. Just focus on getting your site to the top.

Link Velocity is important and you know it, so like you said build backlinks to your site slowly and manually, but create good web 2.0 properties, and blast them. This might lead to the web 2.0 properties being indexed and it might out rank you in the beginning but in the long run, will actually help your site to stay on top permanently.

Don't use AMR on the main site, but do manual submission in the top 5 article directories.

once you get the site to the first page then display affiliate links/CPA offers, but make sure you mask the affiliate urls.

Great info guys. ajithrocksca, you say to build web 2.0 properties and blast them. can you explain to me what a web 2.0 property is? Also, would these web 2.0 be linked to my main site? which wouldnt negatively affect my main site, since I would be blasting the 2.0 properties and not the main site.

Also, what do you mean by masking the affiliate urls?

Concentrate on high quality links and try and be as diverse as possible. There are some services available on the forum. If you need more help, drop me a PM and I can give you some suggestions.

Build 10 + links every day....

Find some articles and re-write them and post them on blogger and squidoo and other sites with 2 links in the articles pointing to your site. Create about 10-20 aritlces in total.

Consider buying some social bookmarks...

then sit back for a few days or weeks.

Put adsense as soon as your getting over 50-100 visitors per day.

If your only using CPA then put it on ASAP... no need to wait.

You know you are choosing less competitive keywords... They may help you in ranking high but chances of getting good traffic are less, because these keywords are less used by users in their queries.

1. As soon content job on your website is done you can start with link building.
2. There is not limit of getting backlink as long as they are appearing natural to search engines
3. Just wait for few time, once you start getting decent traffic you can plan to monetize it.
4. You can do SMO, PPC marketing, e-mail marketing etc. for getting traffic.

Okay thanks a lot guys, this really helped me a lot. Right now I am just waiting to receive the articles I purchased. Once I do, I will be updating the site with new articles, making sure all On-site SEO is completed.

-Besides Backlinks, what else can I do to create traffic? Article Submissions? - if it's a local business, obviously create business cards and fliers. Basically anything you do from forum signatures, blog commenting, directory submission will create a backlink to your website.

Since the site is new, start with high quality authority backlinks. Or else if you just start blasting your site with lots of spam backlinks, it might bring them down rather than improving the rankings.

In terms of traffic generation, try ranking a Youtube video high for your KW. If it's as niche and low comp as you say, it shouldn't be hard to rank it high.

-include your target KWs in the file name of the video, the title of the video, and add the entire script of the video into the Description.
-include the target URL in the first couple of sentences of the Description.
-purchase some US only Youtube views, US only likes and subscribes.

Besides traffic generation, you'll also get some side benefit of ranking that video high on the SERP for your target KW.
