Ok so to make some extra money I can build custom desktop computers well but I am not sure how to do this and where to sell it and such. I don't have the money to order a bunch of parts I would have at my house but people would pick out the parts and I would order them for them and build the computer and then ship it off. Any ideas?

Imo its quite tough market as people who want custom rigs are savy ppl in those areas plus there is a quite a competition in it as there are many services that offer custom rigs. Best bet would to do it locally, to some flyers or brochures. This way you would be able to compete with online services as no shipping cost to send ready product.

About start-up money, you can request money from clients ahead. If you manage to save up a nice amount of money use it to scale it up.

I would save your energy my friend.
Extremely tough market :(
If you do decide to go through with it, try to sell locally, not online (too much competition online)
Maybe local craigslist

it would take too much time to invest for too little reward for me, i thought about this idea 12 years ago, in my moms kitchen, made a plan, made a site, made fliers, posted all over the neighborhood, got one sale, lady kept bugging me for support, or how to install this , virus protection etc...

My markup was $200 i think i made it but it drained so much out of me that i was like screw it because.. the time to get the parts, the time to build, the time to distribute fliers, time to spend with them, just GO BUY A FUCKING DELL and leave me alone is what it came to.

I did this when I was a teen some 25 yrs ago. The market prices were super volatile. I did ok, always got beat out with the local guy on business systems, businesses want support, not trying to track down some kid.. I thought then and there if I did it again, I'd move into a warehouse or rental next door to the supplier so I would have a full inventory with rock bottom prices, replacements,returns...

I still build customs for friends as a hobby, but that's it..

I've never attempted this, but think about building 1 kick-ass gaming system, do a social push, let others fill out surveys or ??, to purchase it.. Let your affiliate cash pay for the systems and some cash in your pocket..

Just a thought to kick around..
